Quick Response Codes or also known as QR are becoming very popular. They are just like the bar codes you seen on the back on items you buy at the store, just a little different. QR Codes can hold up to thousands of alphanumeric characters of different information. These QR Codes can be scanned by a smart device. When they are scanned it takes you to a web link for whatever is placed inside the code.
There are many different ways that businesses are using these codes. Rather they are profit or non-profit businesses. For instance, United Airlines uses QR Codes as digital boarding passes when getting on the plane. Another one is, when you list your business on google it makes a QR Codes for you with all your business information. Organizations such as “The Cure” (which is for cancer people) use these to spread out their information such as were to donate, information about the illness, and links to all their website.
The most common use for the QR Codes are to promote movies, coupons, music downloads, and links to purchase items online. QR Codes are both an input and an output. When you make your QR Code you are inputting information in to it. When a QR Codes is scanned by someone it then is an output, because it is giving out the information inside the code.
One advantage to have QR Codes is that when you are a new business and need to get your information out on the street this can save you tons of money. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on flyers you can make a QR Code for free. QR Codes also help to link different forms of marketing together to help businesses.

A disadvantages of the QR Code is the lack of knowledge the people in the world have for the QR Code. Another one is, that unless you have a smartphone or tablet, you cannot scan the code. Then the information is not getting out, because not everyone can afford a smart device.
